Active Solar Electrical Generation (Photovoltaics)
Active solar electrical generation is an excellent example of renewable energy that uses solar energy to create clean renewable electricity that can power all or a portion of a building’s electrical needs. Excess production can be stored in batteries on site or in most locations it can be returned to the grid for credit from the utility. Using active solar systems greatly reduce the dependence upon the burning of coal, natural gas or other hydrocarbons and their harmful emissions in the creation of electricity; create no hazardous waste unlike nuclear power plants and coal mines; and avoid mass disruption to ecosystems that occur with the building and maintenance of such facilities as hydro-electric dams and coal mines.

Wind Turbine Electrical Generation
Wind turbine electrical generation is an excellent example of renewable energy that harnesses the kinetic energy of the wind to create clean renewable electricity that can power all or a portion of a building’s electrical needs. Excess production can be stored in batteries on site or in most locations it can be returned to the grid for credit from the utility. Using wind turbine systems greatly reduce the dependence upon the burning of coal, natural gas or other hydrocarbons and their harmful emissions in the creation of electricity; create no hazardous waste unlike nuclear power plants and coal mines; and avoid mass disruption to ecosystems that occur with the building and maintenance of such facilities as hydro-electric dams and coal mines.

Power Factor Correction Systems
Power factor correction is means to improve the efficiency of electrical usage, especially in commercial or industrial facilities which often have a large degree of inductive load (e.g. running motors). It is usually accomplished through the application of a combination of inductors and/or capacitors that are switched by means of contractors that are controlled by a regulator that measures power factor in the electrical network. The use of this technology can greatly improve the efficiency of electrical service and reduce kWh usage and lower monthly electric utility fees.

Structured Wiring/Cabling Systems
Structured wiring systems are the backbone of information systems for communications, security, and various building controls. The evolution in convergence of these systems requires organization and collaboration between those who install and operate them. Much of this technology continues to decrease overall energy usage, increase labor and material efficiencies and in the case of video conferencing reduce travel time to zero!
