Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS)

Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) EIFs is an excellent cladding system for commercial and residential construction, offering a highly energy efficient, lightweight engineered cladding system with infinite design possibilities. EIFS is typically seen as more modern stucco which is a portland-cement plaster applied in three coats to a building exterior. Stucco is more expensive than some types of veneer, e.g. wood or cement siding, but the surface is durable, permeable to water vapor, fire resistant, insect resistant and suitable for any climate. As long as the surface has been properly prepared, openings correctly flashed, EIFs should require little maintenance. As a veneer, it has good insulation and requires low maintenance and saves energy over time.

Interior Insulation Systems Modern spray foam insulation is just one of several examples of insulation that is extremely efficient and does not pose health risks to the building users or inhabitants. One version of this type of spray foam is extracted from the castor plant; castor oil is a natural ingredient that is safe enough for use in personal care products such as lip balm. Production of the castor plant has low energy dependence and requires no pesticides, fungicides or man-made irrigation.

Solar Powered Roofing A solar attic fan is a very cost-effective sustainable building improvement. It is easily installed in either existing or new construction and requires no wiring for operation. Solar attic fans save money in two ways. Since they are entirely powered by the sun’s energy, they don’t use electricity purchased from the utility and during warmer months they keep an attic consistently cooler which decreases the amount of energy used by air conditioning systems. This can amount to savings of 30% on associated energy costs. A cooler attic also increases the life of the roof. Many units have low profile designs that provide a clean look which is virtually unnoticeable and resistant to high winds. They also qualify for a federal tax credit in an amount equal to 30% of the total cost of the installation (material, labor and sales tax).
